decorating...

I don't know if many people know this about me, but I love to decorate, I mean love, el-oh-v-ee! I just wish I was good at it. I hate being stuck in a rut, I also hate having to use the internet for means of finding decor when I'm broke. (It's much easier for me to sit at a computer screen and want something, rather than be at an actual store and have that wanted thing in my hands) I know I said in my last post that I am in the process of re doing my living room....and my bedroom. The bedroom is almost done, well it still has quite a few things to do, but at least in my head it is done. I know everything I want to do and have it all planned out. The living room on the other hand, wellll it's one of those rooms that you don't have anything in mind for. The kind of room that just gets left over things from around the house, no real theme or color. UGH. That is my living room. I hate it, but I don't know how to fix it. So in case anyone is reading this with helpful ideas to turn my dull living space into a room I want to spend every second in, feel free to leave a comment or heck just come on over and do it for me! I'll tell you what I am imagining so far...

okay, ready? Close your eyes. No, seriously, close your eyes!! Okay imagine a nice soft white sectional...(I KNOW I have 2 children under the age of 4, but it can still be white, focus!) a white/blue closely striped recliner, there are 2 end tables and a coffee table black metal with slate (blue/grayish) on top. On the sectional are all sorts of pillows, ones that don't match, but really do match (you get that, right?) they're all screaming at you to lay on them, but you don't know which one to pick because they all look so inviting. THAT is the living room I want! Really! I want it to be warm, inviting, cozy, comfy, but also be able to withstand a 3 year old and a 1 year old. I don't want new, I love the rustic/primitive feel to things. I'm just stuck. I know kind of what I want, but I can't make it work together. I can't find the pillows that are in my head, I can't see what it will all look like together.

okay enough of that, I'm sure it's hurting your head, my head has been a mess for the past week!
This lady is AH-mazing! Her house makes me drool. I am completely in love with her, but most of all her bedroom is exactly what I'm trying to go for, but in my living room. here it is go take a look, drool, clean yourself up, and than come back here and tell me what I should do!!
See...drool worthy, huh! I just want to dive bomb the bed and lay there for days. The picture just makes me want to roll around in those covers! See how the pillows go, but they don't match, see? huh? ya see?

I absolutely love the brown/tan, however I have black. So I'm trying to substitute the brown for black, maybe add in some greyish and maybe a few pops of red, but that's all way later. So now that you've seen Funky Junk Interiors don't forget about me, you were reading me first!
Really though people give me some ideas!

please.

pretty please.

Sweetie you're so adorable. Love your blog. And your style matches your personality! I looked at the photos of your living room, and I had an idea. Not that I'm an expert or anything! Since you dream of white couches and blue chairs, what about a bright blue rug, right in the middle of the living room? I just saw one at Target recently. I'll post the link to your FB page :)

A rug would bring that element of blue to the room without buying new furniture. It would also break up the brown in tan color of the couch and the carpet. Then, since you want the white, get a comfy white blanket for the couch and some blue and white throw pillows. Khols has these giant bright blue and white throw pillows right now, buy one get one 1/2 off. Another website you should check out is housebeautiful.com. All their stuff is pretty pricey, but you can re-create the look for a lot less! Your style seems kinda beachy, which is perfect for where you live! :) Hope that helps!
