eehhh another new year.

I have heard from everyone lately how excited they are to bring in another new year. Well I'm not excited. I mean, don't get me wrong, I look forward to a whole new year of spending time with the Mr and the 2 kids, but I'm not looking forward to 2011. If anything, I think I'd just like to skip on ahead a year. What do I have to look forward too? Another 6 months without my husband and the kids without their dad. Or how about empty arms once April rolls around and no new baby to show for it? So, no I am not eagerly looking forward to the future. The future can suck it right now. If I could have a pause button my finger would have pressed it a few weeks ago. I don't want to have to say goodbye again, I don't want Tyler to be asking me where his daddy is and why he can't come play trains or ride bikes with him. I don't want Storie forgetting about him, cause lets face it she's only 13 months, it's not like she's going to remember after 6 longggg months. I don't want April to get here and me be a sobbing mess. I hate not being able to control my feelings.

However as much as this is a venting post, I am so thankful for my family I do have. I am looking forward to spending time with my family back home. Getting a part time job to help relax and make a little money on the side. For the kids to see their grandparents whenever they want. To save up a little extra money from deployment.

but that's about it. Sorry you didn't find a happier upbeat post here.
Happy New Year.

A Sailor's Christmas

There are many versions to this poem, but this one is my area of interest and the point is that there on men/women serving and protecting this country right now who are not able to be home with their families during this holiday season. So please keep everyone in mind this new year and thank a service member!

A Sailor's Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas, the ship was out steaming,
Sailors stood watch while others were dreaming.
They lived in a crowd with racks tight and small,
In a 80 man berthing, cramped one and all.
I had come down the stack with presents to give,
And to see inside just who might perhaps live.
I looked all about, such a strange sight did I see,
No tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.
No stockings were hung, shined boots close at hand,
On the bulkhead hung pictures of a far distant land.
They had medals and badges and awards of all kinds,
And a sober thought came to mind.
For this place was different, so dark and so dreary,
I had found the house of a Sailor, once I saw clearly.
A Sailor lay sleeping, silent and alone,
Curled up in a rack, and dreaming of home.
The face was so gentle, the room squared away,
This was the United States Sailor, today.
This was the hero I saw on tv,
Defending our country so we could be free.
I realized the families I would visit this night,
Owed their lives to these Sailors lay willing to fight.
Soon round the world, the children would play,
And grownups would celebrate on Christmas day.
They all enjoyed freedom each day of the year,
Because of the Sailor, like the one lying here.
I couldn't help wonder how many lay alone,
On a cold Christmas Eve on a sea, far from home.
The very thought brought a tear to my eye,
I dropped to my knees and started to cry.
The Sailor awakened and I heard a calm voice,
"Santa, don't cry, this life is my choice."
"Defending the seas all days of the year,
So others may live and be free with no fear."
I thought for a minute, what a difficult road,
To live a life guided by honor and code.
After all it's Christmas Eve and the ship's underway!
But freedom isn't free and it's Sailors who pay.
The Sailor say's to our country "be free and sleep tight,
No harm will come, not on my watch and not on this night."
The Sailor rolled over and drifted to sleep,
I couldn't control it, I continued to weep.
I kept watch for hours, so silent so still,
I watched as the Sailor shivered from the night's cold chill.
I didn't want to leave on that cold dark night,
This guardian of honor so willing to fight.
The Sailor rolled over and with a voice strong and sure,
Commanded, "Carry on Santa, It's Christmas, and All is secure."

Start of Christmas stand down

So today is another Momarazzi Monday and the start of Christmas stand down for Jake! yeah!

These were taken today at the New Childrens Museum in downtown. It's been raining for 3 solid days here and the kids were desperately needing out of the house. It's free to military for the rest of December! We had a really good time, there was a lot to do and play with.

and these were taken just tonight. We had our cookie baking tonight. It was so much fun, and such a big mess! We made a h u g e chocolate chip cookie, lots of sugar cookies with icing and sprinkles, some russian teacakes, and some chocolate crinkles! yum yum yum. Ty helped daddy roll out the dough and make the cookies into trees, ornaments, and gingerbread men. Then we iced them all! Now that the kids are down from all the sugar highs they are in bed asleep and mommy and daddy are going to wine out and watch the lunar eclipse that is happening tonight. [10pm pst.]

{12 Days of Christmas Blog Challenge: Day 14}

Last and final day of the blog challenge. Day 14: Oprah's audience gifts

well I have never watched Oprah, seriously never. I have though heard of her giving away gifts like on the Ellen Show. Cars and such, but if I were in the audience on a 'giving' day I would like to receive money. Money so I can put it towards whatever I want. Gifts are nice, but if its not something that interests me or that I will use than it more than likely will go into the closet or the donation pile.

{12 Days of Christmas Blog Challenge: Day 11}

Day 11: New Years Resolution

I don't usually make 'New years resolutions' because they usually never last to the end of January. Maybe I'll make one this year, but I really doubt it will be about me. Losing weight-nah, looking more styled and less mom-probably not. I guess if I have to make a resolution of sorts it would be that when Jake leaves for deployment I WILL find a job back home and save all our money (after we're debt free...soon!) to save for a down payment on a used truck. We really want to get rid of that car and get a truck where the kids will fit in the back seats in their carseats. There have been countless times where we needed our black dodge back so we're going to get another truck! I'm pretty stoked too. I loved our black dodge.

and I would like to keep the kids on their bed time routines as well. Eating dinner the same time, naps everyday! Baths, and bedtime at the same time every night. So once we leave there won't really be much of an adjustment to when we get back to San Diego.
