Day 4

Day 4
For Valentine's Day I {LOVE} to cook/bake...share a receipe!
I love to bake. Actually, I like baking rather than cooking. I love to bake apple pies, pumpkin pies, cookies, cupcakes, brownies, cakes, etc. however with that said, I have never baked for Valentine's day. If I decide to do cookies it is the pre made sugar ones from Tollhouse with the little hearts on them. Lame, huh! oh well. Around here Valentine's day isn't too big just yet.

Mil-Spouse Friday Fill in

I am linking up with Wife Of A Sailor for a Friday Fill in. Yeah! This is my first time linking up, but since I have nothing better to do...enjoy.

1) Since most of the country has had nasty weather, what has your weather been like this week?
actually our weather has been pretty awesome, but than again it usually is. It's been about 70-80's the past 2 weeks. Bliss.

2) What is/are your best money saving tips?
I like to read/listen to DR (Dave Ramsey) we use the envelope system, a strict budget, and meal planning.

3) What was your favorite vehicle you've ever owned?
I've never really had a favorite vehicle, really. Maybe someday soon. I would like a truck.

4) What is a question you'd like to see asked in a future fill in?
hhmmm, a question I'd like to see asked? This I really don't know, maybe something along the lines of how do you find frugal ways to decorate since the military life is constant moving?

5) Fill in the blank "You might be a milspouse if____"?
You might be a milspouse if...you bought your 2 kids daddy dolls so they could sleep with daddy, but during the middle of the night find them on the floor and take 'daddy' to bed to sleep with you.
guilty!

last day of January

where does the time go, eh? shhessh, it's already February.....but that means TAX TIME! I am so excited to be getting our taxes back (hopefully this Friday!) I already have plans for my share of that bad boy! This will be going in our new home----->

isn't she purrty! Is it weird that I'm already buying/planning for our next house, 8 months from now? Oh well, I guess that is Navy life, at least for me. This is going right in the entryway with a cute little shelf above it. I think I'm going to paint it. That's the only downfall about military housing...ALL THE WALLS ARE WHITE. freaking white. blah. blah. blah. So to bring in some color I think I need to paint everything, but somethings I just want white, ya know. Maybe I'll just get a new colorful cushion for this instead. Put a colorful pillow on top, maybe some pretty curtains on the window above it.

I'm really excited! I love moving to new houses so I can rearrange things and hang things up differently. I just hate to pack. This will be our 6th move in 4 years. Not too bad considering.

no point to this post really, I'm just bubbling over with things to use our $ on! HA! However, not only the things I want to get for the house, but we have things we need, blah. Like towels, new dishes, sheets, and new pillows. I'm just ready to get out there and shop, when you're on a budget I avoid the mall, Target, Walmart anywhere I know I'm going to want to spend money so now I'm ready to hit the mall and Target, oh and Walmart, oh and also Kohls. Maybe even Michaels, okay I'm done. :) Hope everyone had a nice January now on to February and valentines day....

hmmm. I'm still thinking about that one.

decorating...

I don't know if many people know this about me, but I love to decorate, I mean love, el-oh-v-ee! I just wish I was good at it. I hate being stuck in a rut, I also hate having to use the internet for means of finding decor when I'm broke. (It's much easier for me to sit at a computer screen and want something, rather than be at an actual store and have that wanted thing in my hands) I know I said in my last post that I am in the process of re doing my living room....and my bedroom. The bedroom is almost done, well it still has quite a few things to do, but at least in my head it is done. I know everything I want to do and have it all planned out. The living room on the other hand, wellll it's one of those rooms that you don't have anything in mind for. The kind of room that just gets left over things from around the house, no real theme or color. UGH. That is my living room. I hate it, but I don't know how to fix it. So in case anyone is reading this with helpful ideas to turn my dull living space into a room I want to spend every second in, feel free to leave a comment or heck just come on over and do it for me! I'll tell you what I am imagining so far...

okay, ready? Close your eyes. No, seriously, close your eyes!! Okay imagine a nice soft white sectional...(I KNOW I have 2 children under the age of 4, but it can still be white, focus!) a white/blue closely striped recliner, there are 2 end tables and a coffee table black metal with slate (blue/grayish) on top. On the sectional are all sorts of pillows, ones that don't match, but really do match (you get that, right?) they're all screaming at you to lay on them, but you don't know which one to pick because they all look so inviting. THAT is the living room I want! Really! I want it to be warm, inviting, cozy, comfy, but also be able to withstand a 3 year old and a 1 year old. I don't want new, I love the rustic/primitive feel to things. I'm just stuck. I know kind of what I want, but I can't make it work together. I can't find the pillows that are in my head, I can't see what it will all look like together.

okay enough of that, I'm sure it's hurting your head, my head has been a mess for the past week!
This lady is AH-mazing! Her house makes me drool. I am completely in love with her, but most of all her bedroom is exactly what I'm trying to go for, but in my living room. here it is go take a look, drool, clean yourself up, and than come back here and tell me what I should do!!
See...drool worthy, huh! I just want to dive bomb the bed and lay there for days. The picture just makes me want to roll around in those covers! See how the pillows go, but they don't match, see? huh? ya see?

I absolutely love the brown/tan, however I have black. So I'm trying to substitute the brown for black, maybe add in some greyish and maybe a few pops of red, but that's all way later. So now that you've seen Funky Junk Interiors don't forget about me, you were reading me first!
Really though people give me some ideas!

please.

pretty please.

My washer & dryer riser!!!

FINALLY...it is finally finished. I am so excited to have it in my house and holding my washer & dryer! My wonderful talented hubbie made this for me just as I requested. Let me know what you think! Also I am adding a few pictures of how my living room is now. Look around and than check back in oh, 2 weeks and I'm hoping you will notice a huge change! I'm so tried of the brown couche meshing right into our brown carpet. Yeah military housing! At least when one of the kids spills something it's hard to see!

sorry the angles are bad and you can't see it in all of its awesome-ness, but if you take 2 steps backwards you've hit the other wall. bummer, huh!

and than finally it's Monday and I haven't posted pictures in a L O N G G G time so here's some pictures from the beach on Saturday. That's right, we went to the beach in January. It was a little breezy, but really nice. While it's been snowing back home in Missouri, here in paradise it's been about 80 degrees! Don't hate! :)

This has turned into random Monday, maybe I should blog more...(ahem) Introducing the newest addition to the Haff household...........drum roll please................

MY NEW HUTCH!

Mr's anniversary present to me! Yeah. I love love love it. I've already got future plans running through my head for it. I'm thinking a darker yellow/cream and replacing all that pretty glass with some fabulous chicken wire, but that's still in the future. I'm going to enjoy my hutch just like this for a while.

Perfect for my growing Willow Tree collection. I'm in love with these pieces!

and my newest project i've completed. It's going between 2 lovely plates on the wall. What do you think?
